Growing Deeper: In Love for Christ

With sharp clarity, Jesus issues one call, asks one question, and gives one task. All three are related to the question He asks Peter, “Do you love me?” Like Peter, we tend to often overestimate our love for Jesus, until He shows us how much more we ought to love Him. As the medieval monk Bernard of Clairvaux wrote, there are different ways by which we love God. We are constantly challenged to examine the depth of our love for Christ; as we grow in this love, we also grow in holiness and service.
